Ozzy Osbourne Receives Posthumous BRIT Award with All Star Tribute Performance

Saturday night at the 2026 BRIT Awards hit different. Manchester's Co-op Live arena became the stage for something truly special as Ozzy Osbourne was posthumously honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, complete with an all-star tribute that had everyone feeling the weight of what we lost.
The Prince of Darkness passed away on July 22, 2025, just 17 days after his final performance with the original Black Sabbath lineup at Birmingham's Villa Park. That show, billed as Back to the Beginning, was a ten-hour marathon benefit concert that proved even at 76, sitting down due to his health conditions, Ozzy's voice was still note perfect.
Dolly Parton's Video Tribute
Country music icon Dolly Parton appeared via video from Nashville to kick things off, and honestly, her words hit exactly right. She called out Ozzy's theatrical genius, saying he could turn any occasion into a full-blown show. At his core, she said, Ozzy Osbourne was a showman whose legacy left a permanent imprint on music lovers everywhere.
Sharon Osbourne then took the stage with daughter Kelly and Louis Osbourne, Ozzy's son from his first marriage. Her acceptance speech was everything you'd expect from someone who spent decades by his side. She called him the most humble egomaniac you'll ever meet, which perfectly captures the contradiction that was Ozzy Osbourne.
The All-Star Performance
The night closed with a performance that Sharon herself curated. Robbie Williams, personally invited by Sharon as a long-standing fan and family friend, fronted a band featuring musicians who played with Ozzy over the years. Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos, and Zakk Wylde backed Williams through a special arrangement of No More Tears.
The song choice was perfect. No More Tears, the title track from Ozzy's 1991 album, went quadruple platinum and remains one of his two best-selling solo albums alongside Blizzard of Ozz. It's the kind of song that showcases everything Ozzy brought to metal, the theatricality and raw emotion that influenced generations of artists.
A Legacy Beyond Numbers
The numbers tell part of the story. Over 100 million worldwide album sales across five decades. Nineteen studio albums and eight live albums with Black Sabbath. Thirteen solo studio albums. Five Grammy awards. Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice, with Black Sabbath in 2019 and as a solo artist in 2024.
But Stacey Tang, chair of the 2026 BRIT Awards committee, got it right when she said Ozzy possessed an unmistakable voice and unique presence that reshaped the sound and spirit of rock. That's what you can't quantify, the way he made everyone who saw him live feel like they were witnessing something dangerous and beautiful at the same time.
The BRIT Awards ceremony was broadcast exclusively on ITV and ITVX and hosted by Jack Whitehall. It was the first time in the ceremony's history that it was held outside London, making Manchester the perfect backdrop for honoring a legend who always did things his own way.
