Pain of Truth Drop Brutal 'Unforgiven' Video Ahead of Sophomore Album

Pain of Truth have been on an absolute tear, and they just dropped the video for "Unforgiven" to prove they're not slowing down anytime soon. The Long Island hardcore outfit is gearing up for their self-titled sophomore album, and if this lead single is any indication, the record is going to hit like a freight train.

The self-titled LP, Pain of Truth, drops September 25, 2026 via DAZE, and this time around the band linked up with GRAMMY-winning producer Will Putney. If that name rings a bell, it should. Putney's resume includes work with Body Count, Incendiary, and Counterparts. The guy knows how to make heavy music sound massive, and pairing him with Pain of Truth's brand of beatdown hardcore is a smart move.

The Sophomore Record

Eleven tracks. That's what's coming on September 25. The album clocks in with a tracklist that reads like a setlist built to destroy venues:

I'll be real, track titles like "Obliteration" and "Destroy It All" don't exactly scream subtlety. And that's the point. Pain of Truth aren't here to ease you in. They built their name on crushing riffs, aggressive vocals, and mosh parts that clear the room. This record sounds like it's going to deliver more of exactly that, just bigger.

How They Got Here

For a band that formed in 2020 during lockdown, Pain of Truth have covered a lot of ground. Vocalist Michael Smith started writing material after his previous band Hangman split, and those sessions became the No Blame… Just Facts demo. From there, it moved fast. Their 2023 debut LP Not Through Blood got rave reviews across the hardcore and metal press, and featured guest appearances from Madball's Freddy Cricien, Terror's Scott Vogel, and Trapped Under Ice's Justice Tripp. That's a statement.

In 2025, they teamed up with San Jose's Sunami for the Coast to Coast Split EP, a coast-to-coast collision that lived up to its name. They've also been racking up road time with sets opening for Harms Way, A Day to Remember, and Dying Wish, plus their first UK shows. The momentum is real.

Catching Them Live

Pain of Truth have been out on the road this spring as part of Terror's North American headline run alongside End It and Start Today. That's a stacked bill. The tour started in April and has been tearing through venues from Denver to Brooklyn. If you haven't seen them live yet, honestly, this is the kind of lineup that doesn't come around often.

Looking further ahead, Pain of Truth are confirmed for Sick New World on October 24 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, TX. That's a big stage for a band that's only been at it since 2020.
