Chiodos Sign With SharpTone Records and Drop First New Single in 12 Years
Chiodos are officially back. Not just reunion-tour-back, not just anniversary-run-back. New music, new label, new era back. The Davison, Michigan post-hardcore outfit dropped "TAPDAT" today, their first new single in over 12 years, and announced a signing with SharpTone Records.
I'll be real, this one hits different. The last time we got new Chiodos material was their 2014 album Devil. The band went inactive in 2016, and for a while it seemed like that might be the end of the story. Then Craig Owens relaunched the project in 2024 with an entirely new backing lineup, and suddenly the conversation shifted from "remember when" to "what's next."
Well, now we know what's next.
The New Single
"TAPDAT" was produced by Keith Sorrells and arrives with a music video directed by Zak Pinchin. Honestly, it sounds like Chiodos in the best possible way. It's ambitious, unpredictable, and captures the chaotic energy that made this band matter in the first place, while pushing the sound into new territory. You can stream "TAPDAT" here.
Owens had this to say about the track: "There is still so much work to be done to build out the world of Chiodos. TAPDAT is the first step in that direction. Its return to our ethos is what drew me back to creating with this band, and you can feel it throughout every minute of the song. An unapologetic, experimental ride that pulls you in every step of the way."
He added that the band is "stronger, more focused than ever and eager to continue the story I've been waiting 12 years to tell." That's the kind of energy you want to hear from a frontman coming back after a decade-plus gap.
The Comeback So Far
For anyone who hasn't been tracking the Chiodos resurgence, here's the quick version. Owens reassembled the band in 2024 and launched straight into a sold-out 20th anniversary tour for All's Well That Ends Well. They also re-recorded the debut in full, played Warped Tour, Louder Than Life, and When We Were Young. The momentum has been building for two years now.
Then in 2025, "Baby, You Wouldn't Last a Minute on the Creek" earned Gold certification from the RIAA. A track that's been a scene staple for nearly two decades finally got its flowers. That's the kind of lasting impact we're talking about here.
The SharpTone Signing
The signing with SharpTone Records is a smart fit. Founded in 2013 by Markus Staiger and Shawn Keith, SharpTone has built a solid roster in the heavy music space. For Chiodos, it gives them a legitimate home to build from as they move into this next chapter. And if "TAPDAT" is any indication, there's a lot more coming.
The It's Not You, It's Me Tour
On top of all of this, Chiodos are heading out on the It's Not You, It's Me Tour starting July 30. It's a 20-date North American headlining run with support from 156/Silence, sace6, and Second Harbour. That's a stacked lineup. 156/Silence bring the chaotic hardcore energy out of Pittsburgh, and sace6 blend pop, R&B, and metal in ways that shouldn't work but absolutely do. Second Harbour steps in after Calva Louise dropped off the bill in late June.
Note that 156/Silence won't be on all dates. They're absent from Denver, Salt Lake City, Chicago, Toronto, Providence, and Huntington.

Don't Sleep on This
Look, Chiodos were one of the most important post-hardcore bands of the 2000s. Bone Palace Ballet debuted at No. 1 on the Rock chart and No. 5 on the Billboard 200 back in 2007. That wasn't a fluke. These guys had a stranglehold on a generation of heavy music fans, and now they're channeling that same energy into something new with a label that gets it.
