Movements just pulled the curtain back on their fourth studio album and honestly, this one feels like it's going to hit different. The record is called Happier Now, it drops September 4 via Fearless Records, and two singles are already out there for you to obsess over right now.

The Rancho Santa Margarita post-hardcore group has been on a steady climb since signing to Fearless back in 2015 after literally one show. Three albums deep, with over 300 million streams in the U.S. alone, and now they're gearing up for round four. The follow-up to 2023's RUCKUS! promises something a little more expansive, a little more emotional, and a whole lot more layered.

Two New Singles That Set the Tone

The two lead singles are "Dissolve Me" and "Back In My Ways." Both are streaming now, and they paint a pretty clear picture of where this album is headed.

"Dissolve Me" was actually the very first song they wrote for the record. The band has described it as the perfect culmination of energy, emotion, and growth for them sonically. I'll be real, nailing your lead single on the first try for an album cycle is not something most bands can say. It's infectious, it's introspective, and it sets the bar immediately.

Then there's "Back In My Ways," which leans into the moodier, more melancholic side of Movements. Think the earlier material. Vocalist Patrick Miranda admitted he was a bit hesitant to lean back into the sadder sound, but over time it became one of his favorite tracks on the record. He called it a slow burn in more ways than one. If you've been a fan since the Feel Something days, this one's going to feel like home.

Blending Old and New

The whole concept behind Happier Now sounds like a band that finally figured out how to merge every version of themselves into one cohesive thing. Miranda put it plainly when he said they all had a general idea going in. They wanted to bring back the early elements of their sound and blend it with the newer material like RUCKUS! and mesh both worlds together.

Producer Will Yip is back behind the board for this one, which shouldn't surprise anyone. Yip has worked with the band on all of their studio albums at this point. The guy's resume speaks for itself. Turnstile, Title Fight, Circa Survive. He gets this kind of music on a molecular level, and his chemistry with Movements is clearly something the band trusts completely.

Full Tracklist

Happier Now is a 12-track album. Here's the full tracklist:

1. Pulse
2. Dissolve Me
3. Everything Is Fine
4. Happier Now
5. Flowerbed
6. Back in My Ways
7. Spellbound

Warped Tour and a Full Circle Moment

There's a nice full circle element to this whole cycle too. Movements are performing on Warped Tour this summer, and for a band that grew up inspired by that community, playing it as veterans rather than wide-eyed newcomers has to feel surreal. They've gone from a band that got signed after a single show to one of the scene's most consistent acts. If you're hitting any of the Warped Tour dates this year, make sure you don't miss their set.

Preorder Now

Happier Now is out September 4. "Dissolve Me" and "Back In My Ways" are streaming everywhere right now. You can preorder the album here. Don't sleep on this one.
