Jack White Just Got Added to Coachella Weekend One as a Surprise

Well, Coachella Weekend One just got significantly better. Jack White was quietly added to the lineup as a surprise performer, and if you're out in Indio this Saturday, April 12th, you now have a very good reason to be at the Mojave Stage by 3 PM.
The festival revealed the set time in their Weekend One schedule, slotting White into a 3:00 to 3:45 PM window at the Mojave. If that slot sounds familiar, it should. Last year, Weezer and Ed Sheeran both took that exact same stage and time as surprise additions for Weekends One and Two. Arcade Fire got the last-minute treatment back in 2022 too. Coachella clearly has a thing for dropping heavy names into the lineup at the last second, and honestly, I love it.
This Is Not Jack White's First Coachella Rodeo
White's got deep history with this festival. The White Stripes played Coachella back in 2003, and he came back to headline as a solo artist in 2015. So this isn't some random booking. This is a guy who knows the desert well. But the fact that he's popping up as a surprise mid-afternoon Mojave set instead of a headline slot makes it feel different. More raw. More like he just wants to play.
And for anyone keeping track, The White Stripes were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. The legacy is cemented. This is just a victory lap at this point.
New Music and a Media Blitz
Here's what makes this even more interesting. The Coachella set comes right on the heels of a serious run of activity. White dropped two brand new singles last Friday, "G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs" and "Derecho Demonico," both available now on all platforms via Third Man Records. A limited-edition Tri-Color and Black 7" vinyl went on sale April 4th through thirdmanrecords.com.
Then Saturday night, he was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live for the sixth time, with Jack Black hosting. Monday he hit The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Now a surprise Coachella set. I'll be real, that is not the schedule of someone who's just promoting a couple of singles. That's the schedule of someone who's about to announce an album.
His last record, No Name, was a surprise release in July 2024. Initially dropped on vinyl before going wide digitally in August. That thing was one of his hardest-rocking projects in years and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album. Before that, he put out Fear of the Dawn and Entering Heaven Alive within months of each other in 2022. The guy does not slow down.

The Rest of the Coachella 2026 Lineup
White's addition is the cherry on top of an already stacked bill. This year's Coachella headliners are Sabrina Carpenter on Friday, Justin Bieber on Saturday, and Karol G closing things out on Sunday. The undercard is deep too. The Strokes play the main stage Saturday night, which means you could catch Jack White at 3 PM and The Strokes that evening. That's a garage rock fan's dream day.
You've also got Young Thug, DEVO, Addison Rae, David Byrne, and Anyma delivering the world premiere of "Anyma presents Æden." The range this year is wild.
Good Luck Getting a Ticket
If you don't already have a Weekend One pass, you're going to need some patience and a bigger budget. General admission tickets sold out within 45 minutes when they went on sale back on February 1st. Weekend One has been at capacity for months. Your only option now is the secondary market. Resale platforms like StubHub and Vivid Seats are listing 3-day Weekend One passes starting around $1,074. Weekend Two is a bit more reasonable, with passes starting around $700 to $795. It's not cheap, but that's the price of admission at this point.

What's Next for Jack White
Beyond Coachella, White has a packed 2026 tour schedule shaping up. He's got dates across Europe this summer, including stops in Denmark, the Netherlands, Croatia, and Italy, plus a pair of shows at L'Olympia in Paris on June 13th and 14th, and two nights in Istanbul in August. Full tour info is up at jackwhiteiii.com/tour-dates.
Honestly, between the new singles, the SNL appearance, Colbert, and now a surprise Coachella set, it really feels like something bigger is coming. Whether that's a full album announcement or just Jack White doing Jack White things and keeping everyone on their toes, I'm here for all of it. If you're at Coachella this weekend, do not miss this set. 3 PM, Mojave Stage, Saturday. Be there.
