Hollywood Bowl Appears to Tease a Hayley Williams Show With Cryptic Billboard

If you've been anywhere near the Hollywood Bowl in the last day or so, you might have noticed something interesting. A billboard popped up with just five words on it: "can we pretend that airplanes." No artist name. No date. No logo. Just the opening lyric to one of the biggest songs of the 2010s.
And naturally, the internet figured it out in about thirty seconds.
That line comes from Airplanes by B.o.B featuring Hayley Williams. The song that peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, racked up over 1.4 billion Spotify streams, and was certified Diamond by the RIAA back in October 2025. So yeah, people know those words. And the only logical connection is Hayley Williams.
Here's Why This Matters
Hayley Williams is currently in the middle of her first-ever solo tour. Over 20 intimate dates across North America running from March 28 through May 15, supporting her Grammy-nominated album Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. She's playing tonight at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and has three sold-out LA dates at The Wiltern on May 12, 13, and 15. You can check her current dates on Ticketmaster.
The Wiltern holds roughly 2,000 people. The Hollywood Bowl holds over 17,000. That's not a small jump. That's a completely different tier. If this billboard is what it looks like, we could be talking about a defining moment for Williams as a solo artist.
The Timing Adds Up
I'll be real, the timing on this is almost too perfect. The Hollywood Bowl's 2026 summer season runs from June through September, and single-show tickets go on sale May 5. That's just over a week from now. If the Bowl is teasing a new addition to the lineup, this is exactly how they'd do it.
Then there's the fact that Williams herself hinted at more dates when she first announced the tour. Her original routing ended with a handwritten note that said "…to be continued?" and she's already added additional shows due to overwhelming demand. A standalone Hollywood Bowl date over the summer, after the current run wraps May 15, would fit perfectly.
Why "Airplanes" Is the Perfect Tease
Using the Airplanes lyric is a smart play. It's arguably the most recognizable song with Hayley Williams' voice on it outside of Paramore's catalog. The song just hit Diamond certification last fall after 15 years, which brought it back into the conversation in a major way. It's the kind of lyric that you don't even need to attribute. People just know.
And honestly, the imagery of "can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars" next to a venue that sits under the open sky in the Hollywood Hills? That's not an accident. Somebody on that marketing team earned their paycheck.
Where Williams Stands Right Now
If you haven't been following the Williams solo era closely, here's the short version. Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party earned her four Grammy nominations: Best Alternative Music Album, Best Rock Performance for Mirtazapine, Best Rock Song for Glum, and Best Alternative Music Performance for Parachute. Those were her first solo nods for her own work. She's also operating fully independent now through her imprint Post Atlantic after Paramore wrapped up their Atlantic Records contract in late 2023.
She's been busy on top of that. In January, she and producer Daniel James launched a side project called Power Snatch, debuting the track Assignment on Apple Music 1 and dropping a three-song EP shortly after. The point is, she's everywhere right now and operating at a level where a Hollywood Bowl show isn't just plausible. It makes sense.
Nothing Official Yet
I want to be clear here. Nothing has been officially confirmed. The Hollywood Bowl hasn't posted anything on their socials yet, and Williams hasn't said a word about it. This is still very much in "eyes on the socials" territory. But the breadcrumbs are there, and I trust you can read the room.
If you want to stay ahead of this, keep an eye on the Hollywood Bowl's website and Williams' own channels. With single-show tickets for the Bowl's summer season dropping May 5, any announcement would likely come in the next few days.
In the meantime, her current solo tour still has dates available. She's at the Ryman tonight and tomorrow, then hits Austin, Phoenix, Oakland, and those three Wiltern shows in LA. Full dates and tickets are on Ticketmaster. If a Hollywood Bowl date does get announced, don't expect those to sit around very long.
We'll update this story the second something drops.
