Darker Waves 2026 Drops a Stacked Lineup Led by Morrissey and The Smashing Pumpkins

Darker Waves just dropped its 2026 lineup and honestly, this might be the single-day festival bill of the year. Morrissey and The Smashing Pumpkins are headlining, with 35 artists spread across three stages at Huntington Beach City Beach on Saturday, November 14th. If you're into goth, punk, new wave, or alternative rock, this one has your name written all over it.
The festival is making its return for the first time since its inaugural run in November 2023, which brought New Order, Tears for Fears, Echo & The Bunnymen, Devo, and The Human League to the beach. That first year set a high bar, but this 2026 lineup might actually top it.
The Lineup Goes Deep
Beyond the two headliners, the undercard is absolutely loaded. Simple Minds, Bad Religion, Adam Ant, The Psychedelic Furs, Soft Cell, and The Damned are all on the bill. That alone would be worth the ticket price. But then you keep reading and there's Gary Numan, Manic Street Preachers, Buzzcocks, Circle Jerks, Silversun Pickups, EMF, and Spacehog. I'll be real, the range here is incredible.
The deeper cuts on the lineup are just as exciting if you know where to look. Cold Cave, TR/ST, Christian Death, Choir Boy, Marky Ramone, Modern English, Missing Persons, Mariachi El Bronx, Gene, The Motels, The Sounds, and more fill out the rest. This is genuinely one of the most thoughtfully curated festival lineups I've seen in a while. It covers every corner of the dark alternative spectrum without feeling scattered.
What the Headliners Bring
The Smashing Pumpkins have been on a serious run lately. Their 2024 album Aghori Mhori Mei was widely considered a return to form, pulling generally favorable reviews and reminding people why this band matters. Billy Corgan also celebrated the 30th anniversary of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness with a special collaboration at Lyric Opera of Chicago in late 2025, plus an expanded reissue of the album. The Pumpkins headlining a beachside festival in Southern California feels right.

Morrissey is always an event. Love him or find him impossible, the man draws a crowd and delivers when he shows up. He's been out on a North American and Latin American tour, and a Darker Waves headlining slot on the beach in Huntington Beach is the kind of setting that suits his energy perfectly. If you've ever wanted to hear those songs with the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop, this is your shot.

Don't Sleep on This One
I'll be real, there aren't many festivals that pull together punk, goth, new wave, and alternative rock this well in a single-day format. The 2023 edition proved the concept works, and this lineup feels like a serious level up. Thirty-five artists across three stages right on the beach in Huntington Beach. That's a full day of music from bands that genuinely shaped these genres.
If you haven't been paying attention to Darker Waves, now's the time to start. Get on that SMS list before April 2nd and lock in your tickets at the lowest price. This one is going to move fast.
