Underoath Add Los Angeles to Define The Great Line Anniversary Tour
Underoath just dropped another date on their Define The Great Line 20th anniversary tour, and this one's a big deal. November 13th at The Palladium in Los Angeles. August Burns Red, Atreyu, and As Cities Burn round out that bill. If you're anywhere near Southern California and this album meant something to you, this is the one.

An Album That Changed Everything
I'll be real, Define The Great Line is one of those records that just hit different when it dropped. Released on June 20, 2006 through Tooth & Nail Records, it debuted at number two on the Billboard 200. Sold 98,000 copies in its first week. The album went Gold by November of that same year. The music video for Writing on the Walls picked up a Grammy nomination for Best Short Form Music Video. Twenty years later, it's still considered one of the most essential metalcore albums ever made.
The album was produced by Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage alongside Matt Goldman and the band, recorded at Zing Recording Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts and Glow in the Dark Studios in Atlanta. It sits in this space between metalcore, post-hardcore, and post-metal that nobody was really doing the same way at the time. And the band will be performing it in its entirety on this tour.
Underoath keyboardist Chris Dudley put it best: "What this album has meant to us, and so many others, over the past 20 years is hard to quantify. It gave us permission to be ourselves. It sent us around the world. It gave people the freedom to say (and scream) the things out loud they had buried deep. It will outlive us. We still play these songs on stage 20 years later and get those chills."
The Full Lineup Is Stacked
This isn't just Underoath celebrating alone. August Burns Red and Atreyu are on the full run. As Cities Burn opens the first leg (which includes the LA date), while Emery picks up opener duties for the second half starting November 28th. These are all bands that came up together in that same era. They've been friends since before Define The Great Line even existed, and that energy is going to translate on stage.
August Burns Red released their tenth studio album Season Of Surrender via Fearless Records this year and are two decades deep with over 600 million streams to their name. Both As Cities Burn and Emery are also preparing new music ahead of this tour. There's going to be a lot of fresh material mixed in with the nostalgia.
One more thing worth noting. December 3rd in Lancaster, PA at Freedom Hall is August Burns Red's annual "Christmas Burns Red" event, co-headlined by Underoath with Atreyu and Emery on the bill. If you've ever wanted to see that lineup in a holiday setting, there you go.

Where Underoath Is At Right Now
Underoath have been on a tear lately. They released their tenth studio album The Place After This One in March 2025 via MNRK Records, following 2022's Voyeurist. They came back from an almost decade-long hiatus in 2018 with the Grammy-nominated Erase Me, and they haven't slowed down since. Two gold albums, three Grammy nominations. They've been doing some of their most intimate shows in decades on the "Van Tour To Vans Warped Tour," getting back in the van and hitting smaller independent venues before playing Warped Tour in Washington, D.C. and Long Beach.
