The Mars Volta Announce First Career-Spanning US Tour Since Their 2022 Reunion

The Mars Volta just announced their first U.S. tour of 2026, and this one is different. Nine dates in September, career-spanning setlists, and a special guest appearance on My Chemical Romance's massive The Black Parade 20th anniversary tour. If you've been waiting for the right time to see this band, it's September.
Here's why this matters. Throughout 2025, The Mars Volta performed their ninth studio album, Lucro Sucio; Los Ojos Del Vacío, in its entirety at every show. That album dropped in April 2025 with zero press cycle, no advance singles, no formal announcement. The band just started playing it live on their run with Deftones before the label even acknowledged it existed. Classic Omar and Cedric.
This September run is flipping the script entirely. For the first time since their 2022 reunion, they're going career-spanning. That means material from De-Loused in the Comatorium, Frances the Mute, and the deep cuts that longtime fans have been begging for. I'll be real, this is the version of the setlist people have wanted since they came back.

The San Antonio Stop
The September 12th date at San Antonio's Alamodome is the standout on the routing. The Mars Volta will be joining My Chemical Romance as special guests on their The Black Parade 20th anniversary tour. Tickets for that show start at $124. If you're a fan of both bands, that's honestly a ridiculous double bill. The Alamodome is going to be packed.
The rest of the run is a mix of intimate theaters and clubs, which feels intentional. Venues like Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte and La Rosa in Tucson are going to put you right on top of the band. These rooms are small. They're going to sell fast.
Ticket Info
Artist presale starts Wednesday, April 8th at 10 a.m. local time. If you want early access, sign up for the band's mailing list on TheMarsVoltaOfficial.com. General on-sale goes live Friday, April 10th at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.
Pricing will vary by market, but expect somewhere in the $55 to $85 range for limited-view and upper balcony seats, $75 to $140 for standard reserved, and $120 to $250 for floor and pit. Smaller markets will skew lower. Major cities will run higher. Standard stuff.
New Album on the Way
There's more to be excited about here. Reports indicate that The Mars Volta was back in the studio in December working on their tenth studio album with producer Sylvia Massy. If that name sounds familiar, it should. Massy has worked with Tool, System of a Down, Johnny Cash, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. That's a serious pairing. No word yet on a release timeline, but don't be surprised if we hear something new before or during this tour.
Why This Run Matters
Quick history for anyone catching up. Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala formed The Mars Volta in 2001 after the breakup of At the Drive-In. Their debut, De-Loused in the Comatorium, came out in 2003, produced by Rick Rubin with Flea and John Frusciante contributing. Frances the Mute followed in 2005 and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. They won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2009 for Wax Simulacra. Then they went on a decade-long hiatus after 2012, formally breaking up in January 2013.
When they came back in 2022 with a self-titled album and a sold-out reunion tour, it confirmed what everyone already knew. The audience never left. They just waited. And now, for the first time since that comeback, fans are going to get the full catalog treatment live. That's a big deal.
No support acts have been announced for the headlining dates yet. Keep an eye on the band's socials for updates.
Don't Sleep on This
Honestly, between the intimate venues, the career-spanning sets, the MCR crossover date, and a potential new album on the horizon, this is one of the most stacked tour announcements of the year so far. If you haven't seen The Mars Volta live yet, you need to fix that. If you have, you already know. Get on that presale April 8th or grab tickets on general sale April 10th. These rooms are going to sell out.
