Motionless in White Drop Haunting New Single R.I.P. Featuring Skylar Grey

Motionless in White just dropped another new track off the upcoming album Decades, and this one might be the most emotionally devastating thing they've put out yet. "R.I.P." features five-time Grammy-nominated artist Skylar Grey, and the combination of her voice with Chris Motionless is something I genuinely didn't see coming but absolutely needed.
The track opens with piano cutting through layers of funereal synths before the dual vocals intertwine on a massive chorus loaded with soaring harmonies. It's a lover's lament. Grief etched into a headstone. If that sounds dramatic, good. That's exactly the point.
Chris Motionless described the song as capturing "the deafening silence that follows after you've said hurtful things to one another that you wish you could take back." He noted that while he wrote it through a romantic lens, it can apply to any falling out, whether that's a best friend, a family member, or a partner. That tension of wanting to apologize but not knowing how. Wanting to say you love someone but knowing there's pain on both sides that has to be confronted first. Heavy stuff.
On Grey's contribution, Chris said, "Skylar's voice brought it to another level that I never could have achieved on my own." And honestly, that tracks. Grey is no stranger to crossing genre lines. She's the songwriter behind Eminem and Rihanna's diamond-selling Love the Way You Lie, Zedd's Clarity, and she's previously collaborated with artists in the heavier space like Marilyn Manson and Papa Roach. She knows how to navigate this world.
The music video for "R.I.P." was directed by Jensen Noen, who also directed the band's "Werewolf" and "Sign of Life" visuals.
The Third Taste of Decades
"R.I.P." is the third single from Decades, following Afraid of the Dark (released January 28, which became the band's first number one on Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Songs chart) and Playing God featuring Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor (released May 6). The album title itself is a nod to the band's 20-year anniversary, which they celebrated with that first single drop back in January.
Decades is the band's seventh full-length album and the follow-up to 2022's Scoring the End of the World, which debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200. It was recorded in upstate New York and Los Angeles with co-producers Drew Fulk and Justin DeBlieck. It drops July 17 via Roadrunner Records.
Beyond the Taylor and Grey features, the album also includes guest spots from Dark Divine's Anthony Martinez and Outlier.
Chris summed up the direction of the record: "We were never afraid to take risks. This band has not only lasted two decades, but we've also outlasted all of the obstacles we've faced. We're still grinding." He added that Decades is "definitely heavier than some of our past albums. Our current world bred more aggressive energy, anger, and resistance."

The Fall Leg
If the summer leg doesn't work for you, there's a second leg of The Sweat and Blood Tour kicking off October 30 in Worcester, MA and running through November 20 in Pittsburgh, PA. The fall run swaps in a completely different support lineup: Dayseeker, The Devil Wears Prada, and Dark Divine. Stops include Philadelphia, Raleigh, Orlando, Nashville, Minneapolis, Omaha, Milwaukee, Albany, Portland (Maine), Newark, and more. Tickets are on sale now.
Between the two legs, the band will also be supporting Bring Me the Horizon on a run of mostly Canadian dates from late September through early October.
Don't Sleep on This
I'll be real, Motionless in White have been building toward something massive for a long time. Twenty years of grinding through every obstacle, never abandoning the heavy, emotional, theatrical identity that defined them from the start. Decades sounds like the payoff. Three singles in and every single one has hit a different nerve.
Go listen to "R.I.P." right now. And if you haven't locked in your tickets for The Sweat and Blood Tour yet, you can grab them on Ticketmaster or check Live Nation for dates and availability. These shows are going to be massive.
