Holding Absence Share ‘Whisper of a Dream’ as They Sign with Sumerian Records

Wales natives Holding Absence are back with not only a new song, but a huge announcement as well! The band released their brand new single “Whisper of a Dream” today via Sumerian Records. You heard that right. Holding Absence have officially signed with Sumerian Records to kick off their new journey as they rediscover themselves as a band.
Holding Absence have been around the scene since 2015 making a name for themselves with their unique sound of striking guitars and beautiful melodic vocals from vocalist Lucas Woodland they are changing the way we hear and feel about rock music. The band did take time away from the scene to rediscover their sound and themselves to be able to bring to life a song that reminisces the beginnings of the band.
Getting to listen to the new song all morning, I just get a sense of joy and positivity. “Whisper of a Dream” is a song that gets you moving and jumping off your seat. You are greeted with Woodland’s melodic voice and then hit with hardcore drums, fast pacing guitars and booming bass notes that will have anyone banging their heads. The song truly highlights Woodland’s vocals from a simple whisper to strong powerhouse falsettos that create a beautiful atmospheric sound that is a signature for the band. The emotional weight behind the lyrics bring forth a sense of longing and a journey of rediscovery. Like in the chorus “It’s hard to be whole, I’m mending a soul that I had broken…//…Being a human’s more of a burden than I was hoping” hits so hard that anyone will relate hard to those lyrics.
The music video is on another level. Creating a cyberpunk feel throughout the video with no fuss just the band and a robot named Y4-BB0 that was introduced into the Holding Absence world. It’s truly a video that feels right for the song. Overall, this song brings forth so much emotion and is a great comeback song for Holding Absence. As a fan, I can’t wait to see what this new journey brings.
