Foster the People Are Taking Good Mourning Sunshine Across North America This Fall

Foster the People just announced a massive North American run for this fall, and if you're in California, you've got plenty of chances to catch them. The "Good Mourning Sunshine" tour kicks off September 9th in Phoenix and rolls through 30 cities before wrapping up at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on October 23rd. That's a proper homecoming show to close it out.
The band debuted a completely new live production at Coachella earlier this month, their first time on the festival's stages in 12 years. The show concept builds around a 1950s-inspired utopia that slowly unravels into a psychedelic dream. It's a commentary on the state of things, but delivered through visuals and music rather than preaching. That production is what they're bringing on the road for this tour, so these won't be your standard amphitheater sets.
California Dates and Key Stops
California gets four dates on this run, which is worth highlighting. The tour swings through Berkeley's Greek Theatre on September 11th, then heads up to the Pacific Northwest before looping back for San Diego's Gallagher Square at Petco Park on October 21st and that LA Greek Theatre finale on October 23rd. Goth Babe opens all four of those California shows.
Beyond California, the routing is stacked. Red Rocks Amphitheatre on September 22nd is the one standout date where The Beaches open instead of Goth Babe. If you know The Beaches, you know they bring it. The Canadian rock band has been on a tear, with over 300 million career streams and back-to-back Juno Awards for Group of the Year in 2024 and 2025. That Red Rocks show is going to be special.
Other marquee venues on the run include Forest Hills Stadium in New York, Moody Amphitheater in Austin, The Anthem in D.C., and a stop at Louisville's Bourbon & Beyond Festival on September 25th.
About the Support
Goth Babe is a great pick for direct support here. Griff Washburn, the guy behind the project, literally lives on a 36-foot sailboat off the coast of Mexico when he's not touring. He released his debut album Lola in early 2024 and has built a loyal following with his laid-back, sun-drenched sound. The pairing with Foster the People makes a lot of sense, and honestly, getting to an amphitheater early enough to catch his set will be worth it.
Where They've Been
Foster the People have been building serious momentum since dropping Paradise State of Mind in August 2024. That album was their first new material in seven years, following Sacred Hearts Club back in 2017, and it landed them another Top 10 on Billboard's Album Sales chart. The record pulls from late-'70s and early-'80s influences, threading together funk, disco, gospel, and R&B in a way that felt genuinely fresh. It was recorded between Church Studios in London and East West Studios in Los Angeles.
The band is now operating as a duo with Mark Foster and Isom Innis at the core. They spent 2025 on a sold-out global tour that hit North America, Europe, the UK, and Latin America. Then came the Coachella return on April 12th this year, their first time at the festival since 2014. So by the time September rolls around, they'll have this new production dialed in.
