Billie Eilish Became Justin Bieber's One Less Lonely Girl at Coachella Weekend Two

Seven years ago, a 17-year-old Billie Eilish met Justin Bieber backstage at Coachella 2019 and broke down crying on his shoulder. Saturday night, she was back on that same festival grounds, except this time she was the one getting serenaded on the main stage.

During his weekend two headline set at Coachella 2026, Bieber pulled Eilish out for a performance of his 2009 hit One Less Lonely Girl, and honestly, it was one of the most genuinely wholesome moments I've seen come out of the desert in years.

The Full-Circle Moment

Here's what made this so good. Eilish was reportedly encouraged onto the stage by Hailey Bieber herself. Billie got pushed up there and immediately collapsed into Bieber with a hug, laughing in what looked like equal parts embarrassment and pure joy. He walked her over to a stool on his stripped-back stage and launched into the serenade. Both of them were cracking up the entire time. It was impossible not to smile watching it.

After the song, Eilish ran back into the crowd, visibly emotional. If you know her history as a self-described lifelong Belieber, this moment hits different. These two also collaborated on a remix of Bad Guy back in 2019, so the connection between them goes way beyond a quick guest spot.

The YouTube Throwback Format

The One Less Lonely Girl moment came during a segment of Bieber's set that's been the most talked-about creative choice of the festival. He literally pulls up his old YouTube music videos on a laptop and sings along with them, bringing his present self face to face with his teenage self. It's a concept that has split people right down the middle. Some critics called it a snoozefest. Fans called it poetic. I'll be real, the idea of a 32-year-old pop star scrolling through his own YouTube history on the Coachella main stage is at least interesting, regardless of where you land on it.

Weekend two's YouTube throwback section featured One Time, U Smile, Baby, and Up, plus a cover of Justin Timberlake's Cry Me a River. The new additions of U Smile and One Time gave weekend two attendees a slightly different experience from the first go-around.

SZA, Big Sean, Sexyy Red, and More

Eilish wasn't the only surprise of the night. SZA came out near the end of the set for an acoustic rendition of Snooze, and the crowd erupted the second she walked out. Bieber had a cameo in the original music video for that track and appeared as a featured artist on the acoustic version, so the pairing made total sense. At the end, he told her he loved her "so much" before SZA admitted she was so nervous she'd forgotten how she was supposed to leave the stage. Perfect.

Big Sean also joined for As Long As You Love Me and No Pressure, Sexyy Red came out for Sweet Spot, and Dijon returned for Devotion. Weekend one had a slightly different guest lineup that included The Kid LAROI, Tems, Wizkid, and Mk.gee, so Bieber clearly wanted to give each weekend its own identity.

Bieber's Big Return

This whole Coachella run is significant because it marks Bieber's first full US performances since his Justice World Tour was cut short in September 2022 after he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome. For a while, nobody knew if or when he'd get back on stage at this scale. He warmed up with a cellphone-free private show at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood on March 29 and another set at the Troubadour on April 4, but Coachella was the real statement.

Bieber is reportedly earning over $10 million for his pair of Coachella 2026 headline sets, the highest payday in the festival's history. And with the 25th edition of the festival selling out in less than a week after the lineup dropped back in September 2025, clearly the demand was there.

New Music in the Mix

Bieber's set wasn't all nostalgia. He opened with a run of newer material from Swag and Swag II, his seventh and eighth studio albums that dropped in July and September 2025 respectively. Tracks like First Place, Butterflies, and Yukon all got their moment, and he closed the whole night with Daisies. Swag picked up four Grammy nominations at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, so regardless of the mixed reception to the double album concept, the music has clearly resonated.

What's Next

Right now, the two Coachella dates are the only shows on Bieber's schedule. But fans are already speculating that a proper tour announcement could be coming. After watching him command the main stage for 90 minutes with that many guests and that much energy, it's hard to imagine he doesn't have more live shows in the works. If you missed the livestream on the official Coachella YouTube channel, go find the clips of the Eilish moment. It's the kind of thing that reminds you why live music still matters.
