Underoath Is Getting Back in the Van for an Intimate Summer Club Tour

Underoath just announced something that feels pulled straight from 2002. The band is getting back in a van, no tour bus, no production trucks, and hitting a string of independent clubs across the country this summer. They're calling it "The Van Tour to Vans Warped Tour," and honestly, this might be one of the coolest tour concepts I've seen in a long time.
The idea is simple. Underoath has Vans Warped Tour dates in Washington, D.C. on June 13 and Long Beach, CA on July 25. Instead of flying between festival stops or sitting around waiting, they're filling the gaps with shows at tiny independent venues. We're talking rooms like The Albatross in Jacksonville, Launchpad in Albuquerque, and 191 Toole in Tucson. These are not big rooms. For a band with two gold records and three Grammy nominations, this is a full-on underplay tour.
I'll be real, if you've ever wanted to see this band in a room where you can feel the heat coming off the amps, this is it.
Back to Basics
Guitarist Tim McTague explained the thinking behind the tour, and it goes deeper than just playing small rooms. He talked about the band reconnecting with how they used to tour, traveling together as one unit, listening to the same music, stopping at the same rest stops, eating the same meals. They haven't done that in over two decades.
McTague put it perfectly: "Putting the smallest shows of our career on sale to create an environment that hasn't been seen since probably 2002, to me, is such an amazing experience for us and the handful of fans that will get in to these shows. It will be our moment together, most likely never to be repeated again."
That last part is key. These shows are going to sell out fast, and once they're gone, they're gone. This isn't a band testing the waters at small venues because they have to. This is a band choosing to strip everything back because they want to.
Held. Opens the Entire Run
Support for the full tour comes from Held., a newly formed supergroup that's already generating serious buzz. The trio features Douglas Robinson (vocals/guitar) and Sal Mignano (bass) from The Sleeping, alongside Josh Eppard on drums from Coheed and Cambria. Their debut album Grey drops May 15 via MNRK Heavy, and their first single "New You Anthem" features a guest vocal from Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance. Alternative Press already named them one of the new bands to watch in 2026.
Catching Held. in rooms this size right before their debut album cycle kicks off is a bonus that makes these tickets even more worth grabbing.
Where Underoath Is Right Now
Underoath has been on a tear since reuniting in 2015 after their 2013 breakup. Their tenth studio album, The Place After This One, came out in March 2025 via MNRK Heavy. It's the follow-up to 2022's Voyeurist and the first album without rhythm guitarist James Smith, who departed in 2023. The record features a guest spot from Mastodon's Troy Sanders on the track "Vultures."
The current lineup of Spencer Chamberlain, Aaron Gillespie, Tim McTague, Christopher Dudley, and Grant Brandell has been putting in work, and hearing songs from The Place After This One alongside classics from They're Only Chasing Safety and Define the Great Line in a 200-cap room? That's a once-in-a-lifetime situation.
The Warped Tour Connection
The Van Tour ties directly into Underoath's history with Warped Tour. The band first played Warped back in 2003 in support of their early records, and the festival was a defining part of their rise. Now they're returning to the 2026 edition alongside a massive lineup that includes Rise Against, Coheed and Cambria, Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, The Used, Killswitch Engage, Thrice, Yellowcard, and New Found Glory.
Beyond the Van Tour and Warped, Underoath also has festival dates stacked through the fall. They'll play Warped Tour Mexico City in September, Louder Than Life in Louisville on September 20, Aftershock in Sacramento on October 2, and Sick New World in Fort Worth on October 24. Plus two nights in Toronto with Alexisonfire at the RBC Amphitheatre on August 14 and 15.
