Sumerian’s Latest Power Move, sace6 Release 'ego'

Sumerian Records are picking up bands like Pokémon at this point. Their roster already includes heavy hitters like Bad Omens, Poppy, newly added Static Dress, and it is nearly impossible to ignore the level of success tied to such an insane lineup. Sumerian Records knew exactly what they were doing when they picked up sace6. As quickly as the label continues to gather top names, sace6 is gathering fans of their own and cementing themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Their newest release ego delivers the exact kind of chill distortion I needed this week, and I have easily played it well over a hundred times, not just for the sake of review but for the pure enjoyment of it.
“For us, Sumerian was always more than a label, they were a movement. Growing up, they were a gateway into a world that we were always certain we would find ourselves existing in, side by side with the music and the artists that raised us. Sumerian has been a home to endless icons and we are forever grateful to reside here and begin our own prodigal story. Our latest single, ‘ego,’ evokes the presence of someone assertive beyond necessity—overbearing even after they’ve already won you over, leaving hesitation in their wake.” – Sace6
sace6 is a genre-blurring alternative project fronted by vocalist Sace, built around a core collaboration with producer and multi-instrumentalist Noah Thomas. Known for blending emotional vulnerability with heavy, atmospheric production, sace6 lives in the space between softness and intensity, pulling influence from emo, pop, rnb, alternative, metal, and shoegaze. The project balances intimate lyricism with a soul crushing distortion, creating music that feels personal while still carrying an undeniable weight.
They recently released ego alongside an accompanying music video, and out of the tracks I have been revisiting for my next piece, this one immediately stood out and kept me hooked. At first listen, I thought okay, this is super chill, and then those ripping riffs came in like a personal attack on my ears and completely caught me off guard. I love bands that know how to toss you around, easing the soul while still delivering a rush of adrenaline within that tight two-to-four minute window.
Sace’s voice is genuinely special, the kind that feels instantly recognizable and creates a clear sense of character behind it. It never comes across as forced or artificial. Instead, it feels driven purely by emotion, which makes the delivery hit even better, especially when it comes to the clean vocal moments. The lyrics are totally a vibe, giving it a sensual sense but also feel so back-and-forth with a toxic relationship. What lyrics stuck out to me the most were “Impulsively repulsed by you” and “You just won't give up unless I'm givin' you more”, like agh come on so good! It’s the kind of lyrics where you start nodding your head like yesss, I feel that.
“As someone who has been listening to the live warped tour version of this on loop since November, i almost couldn’t can’t tell the difference- vocals are just” – Instagram Comment
Instrumentally, sace6 has absolutely nailed it. Distortion collides with chill beats to create a double-headed monster of a track that simply slays. The production is tight yet layered, with guitar riffs that cut through just as smoothly as the synths and ambient textures wash over the track. There’s a push and pull in the arrangement; the verses pull you in with calm, almost hypnotic grooves, and the choruses hit like a punch of adrenaline, perfectly balancing tension and release. The drum work keeps everything grounded, giving the song a living pulse without ever overpowering other elements, and the transitions between clean and unclean vocals are perfectly timed to maximize the impact. It’s the kind of meticulous instrumentation where every detail, from the subtle background pieces to the crashing finale feel like it was carefully connected.
Fans have noticed too:
“The voice and that distorted sound was just so tight. Good stuff. I'm glad they signed to a big label, good luck in the future.” – YouTube fan
What I love most is how the song maintains a steady rhythm and structure before saving the unclean vocals for the very end, like dessert, giving the whole track that perfect final payoff. This careful arranging and attention to dynamics is what makes ego feel way bigger than its runtime; iShort and sweet, but perfectly satisfying for the audience.
Touring has been a huge part of sace6’s momentum, and 2026 is shaping up to be one of their busiest years yet. They kicked off the year on the road with Don Broco and Dropout Kings, hitting cities across North America and giving fans a first look at new material live. They are also set to join the Pale Moonlight Tour supporting Dayseeker alongside Northlane and Wind Walkers, with dates spanning from the East Coast to the West Coast and even Canadian stops along the way. In between, they are making their first ever trip to Australia on nothing, nowhere.’s The Return of the Reaper tour, hitting major cities like Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth. Whether they are opening for bigger acts or sharing the stage with other greats, their live sets have quickly become known for intense energy, helping them build a solid reputation as a must-see act no matter where they land on the bill. In fact, I believe that is how many of the fans have accumulated, which is amazing because we can depend on them for realistic sound and an authentic presence.
Overall, it’s a banger and we congratulate the band on making it big with a renowned label. Not only that, but congratulations to the record company itself for gaining such an extraordinary addition to their roster. We’re excited to see what comes next for sace6. Make sure to check out the new track and music video, and to top it all off catch them on their final days with Don Broco or on the upcoming tour with Dayseeker.
