MGK and Wiz Khalifa Reunite for Blog Era Boyz Mixtape This Friday

Thirteen years after Mind of a Stoner became a staple in every dorm room playlist, Machine Gun Kelly and Wiz Khalifa are finally giving fans the full collaborative project. Blog Era Boyz drops this Friday, May 22, at midnight ET, and if the two singles we've gotten so far are any indication, this thing is going to hit.

The title alone tells you exactly what this is about. The blog era. That stretch of internet rap culture where both of these guys built their names on mixtapes, YouTube views, and DatPiff downloads before the industry caught up. MGK and Wiz were two of the biggest names to come out of that wave, and this project is a direct nod to the era that made them.

A Slow, Calculated Rollout

This wasn't a surprise drop. MGK and Wiz have been building toward this for weeks. The first taste came on May 12 with Girl Next Door, which set the tone with a comedic, nostalgic vibe. Then on May 20, they dropped Everything Tatted, and it came with a full visual directed by Sam Cahill. The video is stacked with cameos. Bam Margera, Ty Dolla $ign, skater Boo Johnson, Mod Sun, and members of MGK's EST crew all show up to celebrate the tattoo lifestyle. It's loose, fun, and feels exactly like what you'd want from these two together.

Earlier this week, both artists revealed the project artwork through their official website, giving fans a look at the mixtape's aesthetic before Friday's full release. The duo even road-tested both new tracks live at their Toyota Amphitheatre stop in Wheatland, California on May 15.

MGK Steps Back Into Rap

I'll be real, this is the part that makes Blog Era Boyz interesting. After spending the last few album cycles deep in pop-punk territory, MGK is dipping back into his rap roots. His seventh studio album Lost Americana, released in August 2025, hit No. 1 on Billboard's Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart and No. 4 on the Billboard 200. That record, largely produced by Travis Barker, leaned into the rock side with singles like Cliche, Vampire Diaries, and Miss Sunshine. So hearing him rap again alongside Wiz feels like a reset in the best way.

Wiz, on the other hand, hasn't strayed far from what he does best. He's had a monster 2026 already. Khaotic dropped in January, a bass-heavy project produced through TM88's Crash Dummy label with features from Juicy J, 2 Chainz, and Dave East. Then he followed that up in February with his eighth studio album Girls Love Horses, a 14-track project leaning into cannabis culture, loyalty, and personal freedom. The man hasn't taken a break.

The Lost Americana Tour Rolls On

The mixtape isn't happening in a vacuum. MGK and Wiz are currently co-headlining the second North American leg of the Lost Americana Tour, hitting amphitheaters across the country through July. The tour originally kicked off in November 2025 in Orlando with Julia Wolf supporting the arena dates, and now Wiz has joined for the amphitheater run alongside support from honestav, Beauty School Dropout, DE'WAYNE, Mod Sun, and Emo Nite on select dates.

Honestly, the timing on this is perfect. Both artists are having strong years. MGK proved he could dominate the rock charts with Lost Americana, and now he's reminding people where he came from. Wiz has been on a tear with two full projects already in 2026 and a completed Macrodose Tour that wrapped at Red Rocks. These are two guys who genuinely go back, and Blog Era Boyz feels less like a calculated industry move and more like two friends making music they actually want to make. That energy translates.

The full tracklist hasn't been revealed yet, but Girl Next Door and Everything Tatted are both confirmed on the tape. If you've been following the rollout on their socials, you already know the aesthetic. Nostalgic, carefree, and rooted in a friendship that goes back over a decade.
