I went Insane in The Brain when I got an email from Live Nation confirming that I have press clearance for Cypress Hill. The quartet from California announced a show in San Diego back in February 2026, hyping everyone up just a few months prior. Along with Cypress Hill came Bone Thugs n Harmony, Tech N9ne, Coyote, and Unconventional Kingz. This packed lineup of High and Outside attracted an alternative crowd, a lot of people with harnesses and chains entered Gallagher Square. The more the venue filled, the more ecstatic everyone became.

The first performances were Unconventional Kingz and Coyote. Their powerful performances shook the buildings around the venue for that pre-Cypress Hill energy. Tech N9ne came on third, killing it with his solo artistry. Being one of the most successful solo rappers in the world, of course he put on a stunning performance. I sat in the photo pit waiting for him to come on stage in anticipation. A few minutes later, there he was. The crowd and fellow photographers both knew the songs and danced while photographing. Overall, Tech N9ne radiated a vibe that made my heart happy.

Bone Thugs n Harmony came on stage next. I waited on the grassy hill to gather my camera equipment whilst chatting with the friendly crowd. Everyone in the audience had a love for old school hip hop like no other. Their set was of course their original music, but with a twist-they added a few west side throwbacks by Tupac and Dr. Dre. The crowd rose and screamed in unison. Songs like 1st of Tha Month and Thuggish Ruggish Bone were what really got the crowd buzzing. Smoke rose from the crowd while everyone sang and danced around.

Everyone knows who Cypress Hill is-have you heard the song Hits From The Bong? Or Insane in the Brain? Even if you don't know them by name, you'll know them by their iconic songs. They opened with their intro straight into their hit When the Shit Goes Down. Everyone shouted their lyrics word by word. No matter where you looked during their set there was someone living their best life.

Overall, the High and Outside show was one memorable show. I am so thrilled to see what Gallagher Square has in store next.
