Beartooth Goes Nuclear on "Pure Ecstasy" and It's Exactly What We Needed

Caleb Shomo has never been one to hold back, but Pure Ecstasy feels different. The title track from Beartooth's upcoming sixth album (dropping August 28 on Fearless Records) opens with "Sick and disgusting, this aggressive disease" and doesn't let up for three minutes of pure sonic assault. If you thought The Surface was heavy, you weren't ready for this.
What Makes This Different
For the first time in Beartooth's career, Shomo stepped back from his one-man-band approach. This time around, he co-wrote with Periphery's Misha Mansoor and brought in Jordan Fish (ex-Bring Me The Horizon) to expand the ideas. The result? What Shomo calls "the dumbest heaviest chugs we could chug," and honestly, that's exactly what it sounds like in the best possible way.
The track builds around that central line "I'm not the battle, I am the war" - a statement that captures everything Beartooth has been about since day one, but with a clarity that hits different now. This isn't just another breakdown-heavy track. It's structured devastation.
The Fearless Records Era Begins
Moving to Fearless Records after five albums feels like the right call for where Beartooth is heading. Pure Ecstasy showcases a band that's learned how to collaborate without losing their edge. Bassist Oshie Bichar, guitarists Zach Huston and Will Deely, and drummer Connor Denis all contribute to making this the most collaborative Beartooth release yet, and you can hear the difference immediately.
The production work from Jordan Fish shines through without overshadowing what makes Beartooth work. These songs still sound like they could explode out of your speakers, but there's a precision here that wasn't always present in earlier releases.
What's Coming Next
The full album hits August 28, and if the title track is any indication, we're looking at eleven tracks of this level of intensity. Beartooth's also hitting the road this fall with Don Broco, Magnolia Park, and Windwaker for what's shaping up to be one of the heaviest package tours of the year.
Pure Ecstasy proves Beartooth isn't slowing down or softening up. If anything, they're leaning harder into what made them essential in the first place. Don't sleep on this one.
