The Cab are back, and Orlando got the proof. On June 20, House of Blues Orlando filled up for the Florida stop of the Back From The Dead Tour, the band's first US headline run in over a decade and a celebration of Chasing Crowns, their first album since 2011's Symphony Soldier. It was a full night of pop-rock built for singing along, with Carr and Paradise Fears warming the room up before the headliners closed it out.

Carr

Carr opened the night and made it count. The New Jersey-raised alt-pop artist, real name Carly McClellan, has spent the last couple of years winning over rooms as a direct support for Fall Out Boy, and that big-stage confidence showed. Her set leaned into the hooky, slightly theatrical side of alt-pop, the kind of thing that turns an early-arriving crowd into an actual audience. If you got there when doors opened, you were rewarded.

Paradise Fears

Paradise Fears kept the momentum going. The band out of Vermillion, South Dakota built a devoted following through the 2010s, and when they reunited for a short run a few years back, the shows sold out almost instantly. That same energy carried into Orlando. There is something special about a band that clearly missed being on stage, and the crowd sang every word back like no time had passed.

The Cab

Then The Cab. For a lot of people in the room, this was the one they had waited more than ten years to see. Alex DeLeon and company leaned on the songs that made Symphony Soldier a scene favorite while folding in fresh material from Chasing Crowns, and the mix landed. The reunion could have coasted on nostalgia. Instead it felt like a band that still has something to prove, and Orlando ate it up from the first song to the last.

The Cab

The Back From The Dead Tour is rolling across the country right now, so if The Cab, Paradise Fears, or Carr come anywhere near you, do not sleep on it.
