When GWAR pays a visit, you already know it’s going to be a night of red rain and absolute mayhem. Last month, the band stormed House of Blues Anaheim for an epic show celebrating 40 years of shock rock and The Return of Gor Gor, their new album that comes with three brand-new tracks and an accompanying 32-page comic.

They rolled in with Blood Vulture, Dwarves (gallery), and Helmet (gallery)—each act tearing through their sets and basically leveling the place before GWAR even hit the stage.

The energy inside the venue was unreal. Fans showed up fully committed, decked out in GWAR-inspired suits, armor, and props that was just as amazing as the show itself.

As the crew set up, it was obvious the theatrics weren’t being toned down in the slightest. From start to finish, GWAR ripped through classics like “Filthy Flow” and “Bring Back the Bomb,” plus new tracks “Tyrant King” and “America Must Be Destroyed.” There was blood (obviously), a massive egg on wheels, monsters in skimpy bikinis, and a whole neon-soaked stage setup tying it together.

By the time they launched into the encore—and my personal favorite, “Sick of You”—I had to jump in the pit. I was almost immediately splattered, and honestly? Zero regrets. Hell yes, GWAR.
